Hi Becky! Well, I've never seen Classical Conversations before. I searched it and think I found the correct site. What I would suggest is a good classical (Christian) guide such as Teaching the Trivium by Harvey Bluedorn. This will get you off to a good start on classical education. I would be careful with a packaged classical cirriculum. There are some very inappropriate books out there recommended(and I mean teens too) that I would never let my children read. I have used all recommended resources from christian sources. I didn't know this when I started teaching the classical method, but many of the books I got Jessica (recommended from the Well Trained Mind-good resource but be careful with some of their suggestions) were pure trash! Also with Saxon, that is a good fit for some children. I have one in Algebra and he does well (Jessica also loved Saxon) but I have another boy that doesn't get it and it's just too much so we need to switch him.
Latin - Memoria Press has good Latin programs for younger children (DVDs and all they are great), and I think is a better choice than the one recommended on that site. Older children - I'm using Henle Latin, also a highly recommended choice. You might want to visit www.triviumpursuit.com Classical and christian resources from the Bluedorns. Do you have the Well Trained Mind?
Ok this is long enough for a wall post lol! We can create a discussion here if you want. Hope this helps a little... Theresa
I know what you mean! We've been on a bit of a break. I can see the change :-P
I don't know what I'm doing for next year yet...I will probably continue with the geography units and FIAR. But I keep looking at Tapestry of Grace to!
